Transcript Requests

An official Catholic University of America transcript is a complete record of a student’s enrollment at the University, including all undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses. Partial transcripts are not available. All transcripts are mailed via United States Postal Service. We cannot under any circumstances FAX a transcript.

Note to current students: You have access to your grades via Cardinal Station (under “Academic” in “My Menu”). Degrees do not appear on transcripts until after the graduation date for the semester.

Transcript processing will occur Monday through Friday during regular business hours (9 am to 5 pm EST). The office is closed Saturday and Sunday and all major holidays. Transcript requests will not be processed during these times. If any fees are owed to the University, a transcript will not be released. Transcript requests are processed within 5-7 business days.

Students whose last attendance was Spring 2000 or later:

The Office of the Registrar is pleased to offer self-service transcript ordering for students and alumni with Cardinal Station Accounts.  This service allows you to request transcripts from the University from wherever you have internet access.  Simply log in to your student account, go to the Academic tab, and click on the link for Order Official Transcript.

Among other features, this service gives you 24/7 access to make requests; on-the-spot notification of financial holds that prevent your transcript from being released; and, if you are a current student, email confirmation when the transcript has been mailed.  There is no charge for this service.

This service is available for anyone with a Cardinal Station account; so if your last attendance at The Catholic University of America was Spring 2000 or later, you can log in and order transcripts online.  If you’ve forgotten your username and password, or need assistance navigating Cardinal Station, simply contact the Computer Help Desk at 202-319-4357 or info-center@cua.edu.

Students whose last attendance was prior to Spring 2000:

If you attended Catholic University prior to Spring 2000 and so do not have an online student account, then you can fax us a signed letter (fax number: 202-319-5831).  The letter should include the following information:

  • Your name; if your name has changed, please include the name under which you attended the University
  • Your date of birth
  • The dates of your attendance at the University
  • Whether you were a graduate or undergraduate student
  • Your major
  • The degree you received, if any
  • The address(es) to which you want the transcript(s) to be sent
  • Your signature
  • A current phone number would be helpful should there be any confusion about the request.
  • If you wish to pick up the transcript in person, please indicate this in your letter.

Be sure to sign the letter; transcripts are private records and cannot be released without authorization. Immediately after faxing the request, call us at either 202-319-5829 or 202-319-6036 to make sure the fax came through in good order and is not missing any information.

Express Mailing:

If you want to request overnight delivery service, then you can also place your request online through our secure vendor, The National Student Clearinghouse, www.studentclearinghouse.org. The Catholic University of America is working with The National Student Clearinghouse to accept transcript requests online through their secure website. Through this service transcripts may be requested 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Catholic University checks with the Clearinghouse periodically throughout the business day to gather requests. The Clearinghouse adds a $2.25 convenience fee per recipient when this online transcript service is used.  Please note that although the FedEx option provides express mailling, it does not provide express processing. The transcript will still take 5-7 business days to process.
